Harwich High Lighthouse

Harwich High Lighthouse
The first lighthouse here was built in 1665 (!), the current one was first lit in 1818 and deactivated in 1863. It is 30 m and 100 steps tall and a tapered enneagonal prisma. Managing agent is "The Harwich Society". Harwich High Lighthouse was used in combination with the Low Lighthouse as a leading light for Harwich Harbour.

Shame on me but not my fault, it was closed. Otherwise I would have gone up for sure. I only found one single open lighthouse during our trip. It was in Plymouth the Smeaton's Tower. A second one was open, but just closing in Dungeness and we couldn't go in.
