Poster at La Rampa, near Hotel Habana Libre, La Habana - Cuba,
Julio Antonio Mella, Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Che Guevara, don't know why so green, maybe as sympathy for Sabu ;-)

What beautiful cars! Cuba is quite famous for these old cars that get passed down from generation to generation. They seem to be the only cars Cubans had access to since Castro took over in the late 1950's.

Actually they have now access to many more foreign cars, but they are too expensive. It's a kind of culture, not to throw away what still works and Cubans are perfect in repairing all things ;-) Besides this it is a great attraction for tourists and many old cars are now private Taxis, which is allowed now, and the drivers earn a lot of money. I wondered, that now more old cars are on the street than some years ago. And luckily it's forbidden to export these cars, otherwise they would have disappeared already.
