The day before yesterday, the first load of snow came down. When you consider that three weeks ago we were still doing a via ferrata, then you realise how short autumn is here. ~~~~~ Vorgestern ist das erste Fuder Schnee bei uns herunter gekommen. Wenn man bedenkt, dass wir vor drei Wochen noch einen Klettersteig gegangen sind, dann wird bewusst, wie kurz der Herbst bei uns ist.

View to an 'easy four-thousand-metre peak' from the Gornergrat . Easy because the starting point of its climb - the Small Matterhorn - (3,883 metres of altitude) is accessible by cable car. Once there, steps lead up about 15 metres to a weather cross. At the top, however, one seriously wonders whether one is really qualified for high-altitude touring. (But the idea has not yet been shelved). ~~~~~ Blick vom Gornergrat auf einen 'leichten Viertausender' . Leicht, weil der Ausgangspunkt seiner Besteigung - das Kleine Matterhorn (3.883 m) per Seilbahn erreichbar ist. Von der Bergstation führen Stufen etwa 15 Meter hoch zum Gipfelkreuz. Oben angekommen überlegt man sich aber ernsthaft, ob man wirklich hochtourengeeignet ist. (Noch ist der Plan aber nicht ad acta gelegt.) ~~~~~
