No sunshine reaches this narrow, cold valley (see GEO data) from October to February. You wouldn't want to live there. ~~~~~ In dieses enge, kalte Tal (siehe GEO-Daten) gelangt von Oktober bis Februar kein Sonnenschein. Wohnen möchte man dort nicht. ~~~~~

A now rare 2-seater chairlift. This one here - in the St. Johann in Tirol ski area - takes 20 minutes to transport guests 520 metres up. In icy winds, this is a dubious pleasure. There are plans to replace it with a faster 6-seater chairlift in 2026. ~~~~~ Eine inzwischen selten gewordene 2er Sesselbahn. Diese hier - im Skigebiet St. Johann in Tirol - braucht geschlagene 20 Minuten, um die Gäste 520 Meter hoch zu befördern. Bei eisigem Wind ist das ein zweifelhafter Genuss. The sunlight makes such shots possible in the first place - but it also cleans the snow off the branches. For such motifs, it is therefore even more important than usual to be in the right place at the right time. ~~~~~ Das Sonnenlicht macht solche Aufnahmen überhaupt erst möglich - aber es putzt auch den Schnee von den Zweigen. Für solche Motive gilt deshalb noch mehr als sonst, zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort zu sein.

Clear, frosty weather dominates over the next few days. ~~~~~ So sah es heute Morgen auf der Steinplatte in Waidring (Tirol, Österreich) aus. The snow that was forecast has finally arrived. And next week there will be fantastic winter sports conditions: Frost and blue skies without end. ~~~~~ Nun ist der angekündigte Schnee doch noch gekommen. Und nächste Woche wird es traumhafte Wintersportbedingungen geben: Frost und blauer Himmel ohne Ende. ~~~~~
