Fine view. What is the ladder for? Something to do with snow?

It's a snow guard, as you correctly guessed, Isabel. I was born and raised in the Dolomites and these are common where I come from too. In places where it typically snows a lot, roofs are usually more inclined than normal to avoid snow piling up and accumulating too much weight on the structure. But then you don't want big snow slabs to fall off all at once, causing damage or hurting people, so snow guards are added to prevent this.

Thanks Annalia for this complete explanation. I did often go to enjoy mountains and climbing (not skying, I never even tried) but did not look enough at the roofs apparently!

Extra für euch gestoppt, um dieses Bild zu schießen.
E swar nicht mal schwierig.
In dem Dorf ist es so eng, dass die Straßen terrassenartig angelegt sind.

Great light and point of view, Bernhard, as well as an unexpected "fence"! I am not sure I want to know how you took this picture, though ... =:O
