Extreme Rarities (2b): Old Snow at 1,450m End of July

You don't have to travel to the Hillary Step in the Himalayas for 50,000 dollars and get frostbite at 8,750 m to get a ladder as a crossing aid for a snow field. Here the hut landlord of the Gruttenhütte (Kaisergebeirge, Tyrol, Austria) has provided such a ladder so that guests can reach the hut via the Jubilee Climb. (The old snow looks harmless, would be impassable for normal hikers however without aids.)

Man muss gar nicht für 50.000 Dollar zum Hillary Step in den Himalaya reisen und sich auf 8.750 m Erfrierungen holen, um eine Leiter als Überquerungshilfe für ein Schneefeld angeboten zu bekommen. Hier hat der Hüttenwirt der Gruttenhütte (Kaisergebeirge, Tirol, Österreich) eine solche ausgelegt, damit Gäste die Hütte über den Jubiläumssteig erreichen können. (Der Altschnee sieht harmlos aus, wäre für Normalwanderer jedoch ohne Hilfsmittel unpassierbar.)
