Better Than Bigger

After 50 years of operation, 2018 the old Raintal chairlift at Kitzbüheler Horn (Tyrol, Austria) was replaced by a gondola lift. For ecological reasons, it now only goes down to 1,450 m, because there is less need for artificial snowmaking on high slopes.

Nach 50 Betriebsjahren wurde der alte Raintal-Sessellift am Kitzbüheler Horn (Tirol, Österreich) 2018 durch eine Gondelbahn ersetzt. Aus ökologischen Gründen geht sie nur noch bis auf 1.450 m herunter, weil hochgelegene Pisten weniger künstlich beschneit werden müssen.

Tja, bei uns passiert leider an vielen Orten das Gegenteil. Zum höchst populären Ausflugsziel Jungfraujoch ("Top of Europe") wird gerade eine zusätzliche Seilbahn gebaut, um noch mehr Leute (vor allem Touris aus Fernost) hinaufzubefördern; obwohl sie letztes Jahr mit über 1 Mio. Besucher schon einen neuen Rekord erreicht haben. Das hat zur Folge, dass der => "Eispalast" zusätzlich gekühlt werden muss, weil die tausenden von Touris, die da täglich durchgeschleust werden, das Eis mit ihrer Körperwärme langsam zum schmelzen bringen! :-/
