Erwin E. Smith, Texan artist and photographer

Erwin E. Smith, Texan artist and photographer
Erwin E. Smith (1886-1947) was born in Bonham, Texas and studied art in Boston. As a boy, he had worked summers on his uncle's ranch in West Texas, and he knew that the cowboy life would soon be vanishing. Between 1905 and 1912 he took thousands of photos of cowboys, about 1000 of which are now in the Amon Carter Museum collection in Fort Worth. The Museum graciously and generously allows the use of these copyrighted photos for non-profit purposes. I hope my Ipernity friends enjoy them.
