Found It!

Found It!
6304 rolled through Edmonton Walker yards back in the winter and the rumour was it was going to Wainwright to the museum out there. After I found that out I went for a drive out there and coulnd't find it. I figured I'd head out there again today and see if it was in the museum there. It wasn't there so I figured I'd drive around a bit and see what else I could find. The gate you can see at the extreme left of the photo seems to lead to Canadian Forces Base Wainwright. Not sure why these two gems are sitting there.

Apparently it's ex VIA 6529. I guess I need to figure out camera settings. I'm quite disappointed at how those shots turned out.

Here is some info I dug up.

The two ex VIA units are owned by a Battleford, SK farmer, Gary Southgate.
His ultimate goal is to start a Museum in or near his home town at some time down the road. He has also acquired a few ex CN Passenger cars, and some CP equipment.

We have an agreement with Gary to store several pieces of CN equipment at Wainwright Rail Park, in exchange for their display and use, and will provide space for repainting of same.

The two F units are being delivered to Wainwright Rail Park (our Park connects to the CN network via Bunge's Canola Plant here). They are both operational, and are HEP equipped, but are traveling dead and drained.

Snow, and wind caused more train length limitations yesterday and has delayed 6311's departure from Winnipeg. It is now scheduled to leave Winnipeg in the wee hours of Saturday morning, for a Monday afternoon arrival in Wainwright. 6304 is currently in Edmonton at the diesel shops. Delivery of it is pending.

Already in the Park is his business car CP3, ex WC 100, nee SLSF 3, purchased from CP when they acquired some of CN's business cars last spring. That car is exquisite, and was open for public viewing last fall. All will be painted into the CNR 1964 passenger scheme.

We have been in major track laying mode at the Park, and will have more surprises to announce later, as part of our own collection.

If anyone catches a photo of these en route, I would be grateful for a copy (off list please).

I will keep the list updated.

I don't seem to have a photo of 6529 scanned, I might have one in the archives, though I doubt it. If 6304 is ex-Via 6304, then I should have some photos of that hanging around somewhere.
