1987 VW Scirocco Mk2 GT - E48 GRE

Ripon Autumn Classic 2011

Mark Woodward Classic Events organise several events each year and two of them take place at Ripon Racecourse. Both the Autumn Classic (seen here) and the Spring Classic are well worth a visit and can't be recommended enough. Hope you enjoy browsing through the album. Regards PAUL

1986 Renault 4 GTL - D673 XJF

04 Sep 2011 2 1 622
The Renault 4, was an economy car produced by the French manufacacturer between 1961 and 1992. It was the first front-wheel drive family car produced by Renault and in many ways was Renault's response to the Citroën 2CV albeit a slightly larger car. This 5 door hatchback I've uploaded was in really quite good condition, but I think for me the favourite variant of this French icon would have to be the panel van. Wouldn't mind one of them at all at least from an aestethic point of view.

Dogs At Car Shows

Border Collie steals the show!

1991 Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v - H381 AAB

04 Sep 2011 4 4 806
I don't like to be too critical of someone else's car as it wouldn't do if we were all the same. However, I have to say for me personally this is a case where less would have been more!

1988 Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 Calibre - E248 JJM

04 Sep 2011 1 5 2467
1 of only 500 produced, the Calibre was based around the Cavalier Mk2 and it's believed there are only around 30 left on the road today. One of the reasons so few may have survived is that like any bodykitted car (remember I have a Scirocco) they can rot like anything ... it's often a case of out ofsight out of mind until it's too late!

1968 Sunbeam Alpine - VRB 111F

04 Sep 2011 5 3 1006
We're getting near to the end of this album now folks. Only a few more to upload and I'm afraid a few have messy backgrounds, but I hope you'll still enjoy seeing the cars in question.

1957 Morris Isis - 495 AAU

04 Sep 2011 3 2 1196
The Morris Isis name was first briefly used by Morris Motors Limited from 1929 to 1931. It was then resurrected by British Motor Corporation on a new midsize car they produced in the 1950s. The car shown here is actually a Series II, which is based on the Morris Oxford body, but with a longer wheelbase and front end to accommodate the 6-cylinder engine. Sadly, I can't find any record of this car still being registered so I'm guessing it may have gone overseas.

1969 Volvo 1800E - NPV 143H

Not so fussed on the colour of this one, but I do like this style of Volvo.

1968 Jensen Interceptor - WLK 326G

04 Sep 2011 2 2 720
Apparently, Jensen used Chrysler V8 engines for the Interceptor, but I'm afraid even that doesn't endear them to me. No, this is one British classic that this particular enthusiast has never taken to ... apologies to all you Jensen lovers out there!

1975 Vauxhall Viva E - KGM 250P

04 Sep 2011 2 2 877
Probably one of the poorest photos I took at this show, but I'm uploading it anyway because of the subject matter. Viva, Firenza, call it what you will ... I just love these cars and have done ever since being a passenger in one with a V6 fitted.

1968 Riley Elf - NBC 409F

04 Sep 2011 3 3 932
The more I see of these little cars, the more I like them. Sadly, production ceased in the late Sixties when British Leyland discontinued the Riley and Wolseley brand names.

1967 MG MGB GT - PHN 22F

04 Sep 2011 2 5 840
I might have said before that I'm not a huge fan of the MG and its various forms, but I did like this one ... maybe because it was red!

1987 VW Scirocco Mk2 GT - E48 GRE

Thought I'd finish this album off with another shot of my Scirocco, once again parked right by the track. Really pleased to get the opportunity to have the stand in the shot, as I think it makes for an interesting backdrop.
