Knock Three Times ...

Knock Three Times ...
For this week's Sunday Challenge, for which the theme this time around was cats - real or otherwise.

Well, I'm afraid there's been a shortage of real cats to be found this week so I've elected to go with this formidable knocker in the shape of a lion's head which can be found on the front door of the Porch House in Northallerton.

According to the plaque on the wall, a shot of which I've added in the Notes, this house was erected in 1584 and is the oldest house in Northallerton.

Even more interesting is the claim that Charles I stayed there as a guest in 1640 and then again as a prisoner in 1647.

Also forSight and Sound, this time from a choice of two, both covers by Shakin' Stevens<:

First up, there's Green Door:

Or you can have This Ole House:

Alternatively, with my title in mind, how about going back even further for Tony Orlando and Dawn with Knock Three Times:

What says welcome more than a snarling lion? The hard shadows enhance the fierceness of this item.

Glad you like what I came up with Val and thanks for the fave too. Perhaps though the next challenge for e is to stop using the dutch angle as looking back I see I've adopted this approach to 3 of the last 4 entries to TSC - lol! ;)

A great find for the challenge. Reminds me of the doorknocker we bought for my parent's summer house many years ago.

Beautiful photo, Paul. I have great fond memories of "Knock Three Times." The other two were new and I liked them too.

Any idea why poor Charles l was a prisoner in that house?

Karen this link may help with your question. Not sure just why it was this house but the link is interesting. :) www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/charles_i_king.shtml

Love the image on black and of course I'm of the age that remembers those songs (like them as well) :) Shakin' Stevens is a new name for me but so much like Elvis. :) Nice strong color and the D. Tilt adds more interest to the image. Well done Auto.:)
