1966 Amphicar - FOT 423D

1966 Amphicar - FOT 423D
The Amphicar is, as you can probably guess simply by the name and its appearance, an amphibious automobile.

In the Sixties, the German vehicle was manufactured by the Quandt Group who only made around 4,000 of them meaning that today they are highly sought after novelties.

Cool find and photo! Seems like there's one at the Mecum auction about every year, but that's about the only time I see them anymore.

Lots of Jeeps are amphibious, but I want the variety that can swim! :-)

This looks like a fun toy, but as with most watercraft it's probably high maintenance.
Being only rear wheel drive it may be difficult to get out of the water at slippery spots.
Odd that a german vehicle uses a Triumph engine.
The Germans must have a thing for amphibius vehicles:

Part boat, part car....Wow! I'd like one of those. Not really a ship but interesting to see.
