Our next stop Yetholm Youth Hostel
Yetholm is actually a twin village of Town Yetholm and Kirk Yetholm. Both villages are very unusual in Scotland as they have a number of thatched huts and houses.
The name Yetholm means "gate town", and the villages were described as frontline during the various wars between England and Scotland.
The cross-border turbulence meant that permanent settlement in Yetholm could not have begun until the end of the 19th century. However, the area had long been home to the Jetholm gypsies.

in the picture in the middle you can see the Pennine Way which we crossed here.
Pennine Way , Great Britain's first and most famous National Trail , along the Pennines , over limestone paving, peat bogs and glaciated abysses. These wild landscapes make the Pennine Way one of the country's most challenging long-distance hiking trails.

The Cheviot Hills consist of a series of hills located on the English-Scottish border of Northumberland and Scottish Borders.
The hills are part of the southern highlands, because the Pennine Way runs through the region, they are considered part of the northern Pennines.
The Cheviot Hills were formed in geological activity about 480 to 360 million years ago.
In the southern part of Cheviots is the Otterburn Training Area of the British Army, where about 30,000 soldiers are trained annually.
