... yes: the transitions from one phase to the next are very hard to play,
because the time- difference between them is just about 0,15 seconds,
and you have to strech the transition-phase up to 10 seconds ... -
(sometimes it worked quite well - sometimes not - but it was live, and therefore o.k. :-)

Reich's first work with magnetic tapes (I think) was "Different Trains" (string quartet);
but before he always has written for "analog" musicians ...
