KEY

We can be alone
in many ways but what is needed so often
is the sound of a key in the lock
or the sound of a drawer. We spend our time in isolation
with voluptuousness
this divine thing of not listening to what
neither seduce nor consoles us. But soon
the boredom of this voluntary incarceration between walls
and domestic noises of the neighborhood returns
confirming we are ignored by the world
like a mouse or a cockroach in the baseboard.
That's why the sound of your footsteps on the stairs
alleviates me despite the false talks and disagreements
in daily living.

A CHAVE

Podemos estar sozinhos
de muitas maneiras mas faz falta tantas vezes
apenas o ruído de uma chave na fechadura ou
o som de uma gaveta. Gastámos com volúpia
os nossos tempos de isolamento
essa coisa divina de não ouvir o que não nos seduz
nem nos consola. Mas breve regressa
o enfado desse encarceramento voluntàrio entre paredes
e ruídos domésticos da vizinhança
que nos confirmam ignorados do mundo
como um rato ou uma barata numa fresta de rodapé.
Por isso me alivia o som dos teus passos nas escadas
apesar das desconversas e das falsas concordâncias
no habitar dos dias.
