1st DAY OF THE DECONFINEMENT 3rd PHASE
looking there I look
despite the rain stains on the windowpanes
and the pigeons' droppings running like fried eggs
I look and see the sun
today
strong in my eyes
I blink to reduce blindness
and focus on what's going down
at the avenue
there it is the new deconfinement
the coffee shop terrace is filled with pandemic veterans
I think
---a lot of them risk dying for a little freedom and small talk---
looking there I look
I see them without masks
---they had forgotten the lips with smiles hanging on---
they order coffees rice cakes and water glasses
for now cell phones remain intact next to the cups
looking there I look
noisy 112 ambulances pass along
like UBER cars on the way to death
then comes lunchtime
the terrace is getting empty
looking there I look
I count them as they leave
tomorrow I will see if everyone shows up

1º DIA DA 3ª FASE DE DESCONFINAMENO
passam estridentes ambulâncias do 112
a seguir vem a hora do almoço
a esplanada vai ficar vazia
lá olhar eu olho
conto-os à medida que saem
amanhã vou ver se comparecem todos

footnote: Since yesterday, 18/11/2022, the isolation is back for me (5 days). I tested positive again. Despite vaccines and reinforcements (5 takes), and all the safety procedures I adopted, here it is COVID again.
