ÉMIGRÉS

Now that my neighbours
have returned to Poland

with their gaggle of children
and Mrs Grabowski making

one last indiscriminate visit
to the communal washing-line

I think of sheets, my very own,
hanging somewhere in Gdansk.

penso nos meus lençóis, pessoais,
