i lost my mother when she was 92 and I know well that even if you know it's coming, because they are old and "have lived their lives", the sense of loss is just as crushing. As in the words you quote, though, they leave us a wealth of memories and the knowledge that we are who we are because of them, so that, even when they "move to the other side", they live on in us.
