Reflections on Jammin

Reflections on Jammin
When I was a little girl, I would watch my grandmother can a variety of fruits. She was from England, her family immigrated to San Francisco and finally settled in the Merced area. So she had acess to an abundance of fresh fruits. Having gone through the Great Depression as a young mother, she valued putting by some of that abundance for a rainy day. She was always so calm and matter of fact about her process, unlike my mother who was nervous and anxious about cleanliness, I watched my mother calm down a bit as she got older, not unlike myself. They were both amazing homemakers and I learned to can holding on to their aprons.

Looks yummy! That's great that you continue to can fruit. My mom also canned and I have fond memories of helping her. I used to do it, but one year I lost a lot of jars of peaches. Didn't do something right so I haven't done it since. But I still have my jars, so I really should try it again.
