Lone building and tsunami wall, Taro 田老 岩手
A concrete or I-beam structured building managed to remain upright as the tsunami topped the wall, forming a 17m high waterfall into the town. Less strong buildings were swept away. After 100 days, most of the debris had been carted to the south end of town and piled up there. Where it goes from there, I have no idea. By June of 2012 all the broken concrete was removed and this and the other still standing but destroyed concrete structures were mostly knocked down.
