Close up of a gilded crane on an Uchikake kimono

Close up of a gilded crane on an Uchikake kimono
We picked up this new with tags, an embroidered with gilt thread uchikake kimono somewhere along the line (wedding hall going out of business?). We just had it out hanging in the living room to air when I had my camera out so I took a picture. It was from Kumamoto so I put it in that set.

The uchikake is a highly formal kimono worn by a bride at her wedding. It is usually too expensive to buy so it's rented. It is padded and extra long with a padded hem, made to drag along the floor. They are worn over the regular kimono without an obi.
