1945 Cleorodes lichenaria (Brussels Lace)

1945 Cleorodes lichenaria (Brussels Lace)
Geometridae, Ennominae Wingspan: 28-36mm.

A locally distributed species usually found in the west and central areas of the UK, and occurring in suitable habitats throughout Cornwall. Freshly emerged specimens have a distinct greenish caste in the ground colour, although this might fade in older specimens. The characteristically jagged and heavily indented outer central cross line on the forewings, together with the colour and the smaller size compared to most of the other species in this group makes it quite easy to identify.

The UK flight season is defined as June to mid August, but in Cornwall individuals can be seen as early as May, and also through to October.
