1764 Chloroclysta truncata (Common Marbled Carpet)

1764 Chloroclysta truncata (Common Marbled Carpet)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 28-38mm.
A common species which is quite variable in colouration, although the illustration here is a typical version. Variations can be almost all black to having a large orange patch in the centre of the fore-wings (see other pictures in this album). At rest, the fore-wings are put onto a wide delta shape, as they are broader than 1760 Red-green Carpet.

This species can be found most months through the year, but normally in Cornwall they can appear sporadically from March and often into December over mild Winters. There are normally two generations in Cornwall, with the flight season broadly peaking in May/June and September/October.
