As we were not going to San Francisco, thought we would wear the flowers somewhere else. Katie's toes seemed like a good idea. 16th June 2013. Bowling, west of Glasgow, Scotland.

Now he's a 'Silver Y' Moth

31 Oct 2010 1 414
Colin the Caterpillar had not been seen for about 3 weeks. Then on 10th October I came home to discover Colin the Caterpillar had metamorphosed into Colin the Moth. I still have no idea what kind of Moth, but then I don't know where the basil came from either. It could be from Mexico or China. Any clues to his identification would be most welcome. Released him on 16th October. Hope he meets a nice sexy Mrs Colin soon. Photo taken in Bridge Of Weir, Scotland. p.s if you see him, he is partial to buritos and enchilladas and quite enjoys a nap in the afternoon.

In this recession, it really is a jungle out there. More and more I'm finding that we're competing with workers from abroad. Once you get past his appearance, Leonard is actually an OK bloke. He works hard but he does go mental when the vending machine jams. Glasgow February 2009.

Love Fungi

Taken on February 12th 2007 - YES, I know I'm a bit late! Bridge Of Weir, Scotland. This is a fungus called Sarcoscypha coccinea "fungus found occasionally in moist forests of the Pacific northwest" - looks like this one is a long way from home!

I thought a funny shaped football had been kicked at my kitchen window. Then I saw it had a beak.

On the path up the Cobbler from Arrochar grow a number of these Blackthorn trees (prunus spinosa) producing sloes in the Autumn. Not something I'd like to fall into while coming down the path in the dark. Scotland December 2006.

Golden spring arrival

On 29th March I had these daffodils in a vase in my kitchen while the bright sun streamed through the window. The golden illumination was gloriousl. The wonder of nature unfolding around us is a great relief to confinement during the awful coronavirus epidemic. Bridge Of Weir, Scotland.
