"Independence Day. 101. Easter compliments of T. G. Daub, grocer." One advertising trade card, two holidays! Theodore Gustav Daub, a grocer from Easton, Pennsylvania, printed an Easter greeting on this Independence Day trade card.

"Buzzell Tire Services and Dry Cleaning and Pressing Service, 52-54 Main Street, Galeton, Penna. Quick tire service. Call us for all your tire needs. New and used tires! Work guaranteed. We'll fix it in a hurry! Oh dear, a blowout!"

"Roller skating. Just for fun in the American way. Dorney Park."

Novelty calling card on heavy card stock with the design cut or slashed into the paper. Although I have a number of these cards, I haven't been able to locate any information regarding their origin. For another example, see William Polk .

"Ox Roast, Labor Day, 1910, Ind. Fire Co." This rather dark real photo postcard shows a festive scene at a Labor Day celebration held in 1910 by "Ind. Fire Co." (Independent or Independence Fire Company, location unknown but probably somewhere in Pennsylvania). The "ox roast" likely referred to roast beef that was sliced and served in sandwiches.

"Majestic Quartette, Irwin, Pa., musical sketches and songs for all occasions. A. Carlson, manager, first tenor. J. Carolan, second tenor. J. Carlson, baritone. A. George, bass." This Majestic Quartette may be the same one that's pictured on the cover of the sheet music for the 1905 song, Someone Thinks of Someone .

A wallpaper photo for the Vintage Photos Theme Park. A real photo postcard postmarked Chicago, Dec. 24, 1908, and addressed to Miss Anna Wallace, New Florence, Pennsylvania. Message written on the back: "A merry Xmas. How do you like your job by this time? Received your postal. Best regards to all, Sam." Judging by the pennant hanging on the wall (which probably spells out "Law") and what appear to be law book bindings in the bookcase and on the small table, Sam may have been a law school student.

"How we do things at Jackson, Pa." These same onions appear in another tall-tale postcard entitled Onion Harvest (below), which was also published by Wisconsin photographer Alfred Stanley Johnson, Jr.

"All Stars at Augustaville dance. Coleman caller. 1-21-'33." The musicians ("All Stars") and caller ("Coleman," with megaphone) for a dance that evidently took place in Augustaville, Pennsylvania, in 1933.

A 1970s photo for the Vintage Photos Theme Park. In the original scan of this photo, the Pennsylvania license plate on the back of the truck looks like it has a "74" or "75" sticker in one corner, so I'm reasonably sure that it dates to the 1970s.
