Your favorite dog photo for the Vintage Photos Theme Park.

Seated on fire engine no. 13, these proud Dalmatian parents watch over their seven pups, who are trying to squirm their way out of firefighter's footwear.

I haven't been able to determine the origin of this snapshot. I spent quite some time squinting at the hood of the engine in an attempt to figure out the name of the fire company. It's possible that the letters "aniley" are in part of the name above "[fi]re co." but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

In any case, this is currently my favorite dog photo.

This is wonderful Alan! What a fantastic photograph. It's especially cool because I'm currently pre-reading "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" by Dodie Smith (on which Disney based his movie) prior to reading it aloud to my grandsons.
It's a great book - too bad that most people only know the movie now.
Anyway, that's Pongo and Missy in the driver's seat with seven of their fifteen puppies. : )

Is the Starlight Barking good? (The concept of the starlight barking is so cool.)
I've just started the first book as a read-a-loud to my 7yr old grandson who loves it! Decided it;s not a good read for the four year old.

I think it's good, but as with most sequels, it can't really recapture the magic you get meeting everyone for the first time. :)

The four-year-old might like Harry The Dirty Dog. mr_xenophora found a live-action version of it a few weeks ago, and I was reminded how fond I was of it when I was small. (link)

It's so funny you say that. After many, many years working with kids, the book I love to read - and to tell parents about, THE book for 4 year olds, is Harry the Dirty Dog. I'm not sure what it is about that book for that age group, but something very primal is clearly present to pull four year olds in and captivate them to the extent it does.
It's not that I even love it that much - but it doesn't matter - it's the book that connects!
Another book I've seen with that intense response is a more recent book, "I Kissed the Baby!" and that age group is generally the two year olds. Same thing - they can't get enough of it!

Oh, and my 4 year old grandson loves "Harry" - but it's harder to find a good chapter book (not scary or too intense) for him.
