Studied in Tagarog with Anastaseva and Leonova, He later studied with Clark,Safferi, Vidal and Capelli.He was singing in the chorus at the Mariinsky in 1892 and made his debut at Kazansk-Saratovsk opera in 1894.Debut at the Bolshoi in 1901 as Raol in “Les Huguenots” by Meyerbeer and remained at the Bolshoi until 1908.He also guested at Mariinsky , Italy ,Belguim and South America
