Aftermath of storm Leslie.

Aftermath of storm Leslie.
Tree branches wrenched to the ground, at São João Batista Square, Almada. Fortunately Leslie didn't pass close enough to cause serious damages in the Lisbon area. However, the western region of central Portugal was devastated - roofs, trees and electricity poles knocked down, and many towns and villages without power or water supply, if dependent on electric pumps, for one or two weeks.

Ulrich John, Karp Panta, Erhard Bernstein and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

In Coimbra district wind blew at up to 110 mph - kilometres of power lines were knocked down and some steel towers of high voltage cables were bent down, with the top near the soil!

Even here in Madrid, Leslie was expected but it didn't happen - it swung north and caused havoc in Zamora and Leon instead.
