Almendres Cromlech.

Almendres Cromlech.
Megalithic monument with 95 stones, it dates back to the Neolithic Age, having been achieved between the 6th and the 3rd millennium BC. It was only discovered in 1964. It stands on the countryside of Guadalupe, a civil parish within Évora council.

William Sutherland, Diane Putnam, ColRam, Andy Rodker and 4 other people have particularly liked this photo

How this can have lain undiscovered until 1964 is beyond me!
I would like to spend a week or more exploring the pre-historic sites here but I know I will never find the time, sadly!

I suppose it was almost covered with soil, except a few rock tops, which may have triggered the suspicion about what those rocks could mean.
