As we all know, history began with the invention of the wheel, the Big Mac, mirrors and, of course, corruption you can TRUST -- that is: RELIABLE corruption that gets you what you need from friend and mother-in-law alike!
Without mirrors, society would be completely meaningless much as the promises of -- well, pick any politician you want...
