In the window displays you can see, advertized, "Kodaks" ( not "Kodak film"; I think you'd take the shots then mail the whole camera to Rochester, New York where Eastman Kodak would develop the pictures and mail them back.), "Vicks Vapor Rub ...Best for children's colds...", and Gillette shaving products.
Grandma Vera described his training for his pharmacy profession by way of apprenticeship in the 1880s: "He learned his profession by the way of 'mortar and pestle' ['Mörser und Pistill'] route when the dried roots were laboriously pounded to powder. Capsules were hand filled by tapping one end of the capsule in the spread out powder and then putting the top on. There were also some hand tools for forming pills."
The small drug store also had a soda fountain.
