Black Darter (m)

Black Darter (m)
A male black darter basking in the heathland on the margin of Blakemere Moss in Delamere Forest, Cheshire. The first time I have seen one of these tiny dragonflies.

Smashing!

I have yet to get a decent shot of a dragonfly, so I can only admire your expertise...

Many thanks Joan. The hardware helps a lot, but so does a patient and observant wife. We spent an hour yesterday standing on the edge of a bog with my wife spotting subjects and me photographing them.

Love this Roy, cracking detail and superb shotl .
How tiny was it ?
Congrats to your wife, an excellent team.

Roy Lowry has replied to Ray Waring
Many thanks Ray. Around 75% of the size of a common darter, so about 3 cm long. So, the picture is about twice actual size.
