Unexpected Encounter

Unexpected Encounter
We met a pair of oystercatcher - this is one of them - on top of Mynydd Enlli on Bardsey Island. From their behavior I think they had a nest nearby - just not where I'd expect to find a pair of waders.

Ian Kirk, David Hodson, Ramon Hierro, Kenny and 8 other people have particularly liked this photo

Lovely birds with there plaintive cry, I have watched them many times. I know they will build there nests often in odd spots, not always on the ground like you would expect from waders, but sometimes on walls or rocky outcrops were they seem to be able to get good all round vision. *

Thanks David. With curlew they characterise the sound of the coast.
