Poppy

Poppy
The horse paddocks on the vegetated dunes at Leasowe are a well-known local birding spot providing a pit stop for many passage migrants. Currently the margins of these paddocks are a riot of colour with some half dozen species of wild flower. I was after birds, so flower portraits were the only type of shot open to me with the telephoto I was carrying.

A lovely blast of colour! (I know that feeling ..sitting waiting for wildlife I often end up seeing what else I can photograph when it does not turn up. This was a lovely outcome)

Many thanks. I usually carry macro kit as well as there's always some mini-wildlife to pursue, but I was after flight shots yesterday and travelling 'light'. Birds were there and performing well, but the light had deteriorated badly and so the shots were very poor.
