Dunlin and Ringed Plover Flock

Dunlin and Ringed Plover Flock
I was surprised to see small flocks of waders on the shoreline between Leasowe and Meols at high tide today. This one comprised dunlin in summer plumage and ringed plover.

Cheers Colin. Quite possibly the same birds - there can't be that many still around this late in the year.

Very nicely captured! I like the formation and the reflections in the water.

Many thanks Bruce. Of course these guys are moving so fast there's always some degree of shoot and hope. Sometimes it comes up trumps!

Nice shot Roy. We had many less migrants this winter, down here on the Sussex coast. The highlight for me was a small flock of Curlews among the Canada Geese at Cuckmere Haven. Dunlin are regular visitors, but I haven't seen any Ringed Plovers since I moved here five years ago.

Thanks Phil. Plenty of waders up here over the winter - knot, dunlin, sanderling, curlew, grey and golden plover, lapwing, godwit, oystercatcher on the N Wirral coast and Dee Estuary. Ringed plover show up regularly - mostly passage migrants in 'waves' - but a small number hang around over the summer.

Cracking shot Roy, almost red arrow formation and moving quickly by the look of the reflections

Thanks again Roger. They move very quickly making in-flight shots a bit of a challenge!
