Am Donnerstag, den 13. August 1959, wurde das weltweit erste Auto mit serienmässig eingebautem Dreipunkt-Sicherheitsgurt - ein Volvo PV544 - an einen schwedischen Volvo Vertreter in Kristianstad ausgeliefert. Im Verlauf der folgenden 50 Jahre hat der V-förmige Dreipunkt-Sicherheitsgurt weit über eine Million Menschenleben gerettet. Bis zum heutigen Tag ist der Dreipunkt-Sicherheitsgurt die wichtigste Sicherheitsvorrichtung in der über 120-jährigen Geschichte des Automobils.
