Tulip flower in ultraviolet

Tulip flower in ultraviolet
Ultraviolet photograph looking down into the centre of a tulip flower.

In visible light the flower's petals appear a medium toned purple colour, with a light yellow area at the base. This contrasts with the flower's appearance in UV, where the petals are a much darker single tone. The anthers also appear darker in ultraviolet than they do in visible light. The stigma is quite bright, but with dark edges.
