These two cut off telegraph poles appear to be part of redundant gate posts in a long vanished fence line. The tops have hollowed out forming "plant pot" depressions which have attracted this European holly (Ilex aquifolium) and mountain ash or rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).

All the houses I have lived in have had a rowan in the front garden, to deter witches. And it really works - I've never seen one - not ever!
