Congestion, Gwent Square, Cwmbran 16 October 2015
The bus station on Gwent Square was built in the 1960s when there were relatively few buses using it and the buildings on the right had not been erected. Today, Cwmbran is much more established with bus stops here for the entire Eastern Valley, Chepstow, Ebbw Vale, Abergavenny, Blackwood et. al. At various times the build up of buses picking up and disgorging passengers is horrendous. The "in lane" here is choked, with buses backed up on Glyndwr Road. A new, expanded bus station is needed, something which planners have consistently neglected to take into account as the Town Centre has been developed. At the very least, the central reservation needs to be taken out to give more manoeuvring space for the buses. Sometimes the left of the screen is congested, sometimes both sides.
