Note the "elf'n ' safety wooden boards on the spikes of the grave railings to the right; wouldn't want any accidental impalings!

This was originally a hermit's cell said to have been established in the 6th Century by St David, and one of the most sacred sites in Wales. A monastic settlement grew up around it, and in the early 12th Century, a priory was built there as a cell, but within ten years a full Augustinian priory had been established. The current church is believed to have been the infirmary of the priory. As with many of these early churches, a great deal of restoration was carried out in the 19th Century.
