The KRRC were raised in North America as the Royal Americans recruiting amongst American colonists, and specialising in marksmanship and skirmishing, for which, they adopted a dark green uniform with black accoutrements. They became the 60th Regiment of Foot, serving with distinction for 200 years. In 1966, they were merged with other rifle regiments to become 2nd Battalion, Royal Green Jackets. In 2007 they amalgamated with other regiments, including a non-rifle battalion, and became 2nd Battalion, The Rifles.
