The Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) - the "Reich Labour Service" - was a compulsory national labour service for young men and unmarried women beginning at the age of eighteen, although this was not striclly enforced until outbreak of war. It was set up as an instrument to combat unemployment (rather like the CCC in the USA ), but it rapidly became a pre-military training scheme for the men. Women were employed in health services and in agriculture. During the Second World War they were classed as Armed Forces Auxiliaries and accordingly given protection under the Geneva Convention.

It is my intention to create another Set, for the men of RAD.
