Housekeeper, cook, kitchen staff and butler of a large household - Germany, circa 1920s
My good friend, the Countess Anna von Schlapdasch, had a very large staff. I did so enjoy dining there, for the cook always made sure that I had several vegetarian options to choose from. He was, incidentally, renowned for his Curried Mongoose with Pomegranate Raita, a recipe which brought him to the attention of several Berlin restaurants. Despite being wooed by them, he remained loyal to the Countess.
