MN1142 ELIE - [POST OFFICE]

MN1142 ELIE - [POST OFFICE]
POSTCARD

Date: Posted 1910.

Publisher / Photographer: Bates

Notation: This card is in rough shape - very faded. I had to enhance it a lot to make the detail visible. I'd love to have this card in better condition!
The building on the left is Elie's Post Office. Next to it is the shop of L. A. Snier and Hebert Harness Maker and Shoe Repairs. The signs on the wall between them are for Five roses and Harvest Queen Flour, Purity Four, and Island City Paints. The sign on the Post Office is also Purity Flour.

Bates 939. With Bates and Winnipeg Photo, I always feel that the "long series" cards are better than the ones that are numbered by the town. Interesting that they each had the two parallel systems of numbering their cards. Going by my modest Canada-wide collection, it isn't actually that common to find numbered RPPCs. Frasch in Edmonton did it but I can't think of many others.

Really? I thought it might have been more common.

A single series taken at once sometimes is, but it doesn't seem to have been a common practice to number one's entire production over an extended period.
