Ja, die Erosion hat überall genagt!

A pretty barren looking landscape that has a special quality of it's own mainly because of the contrast between the green algae(?) and the colour of the rock on the slopes. There's also a nice looking double waterfall in the distance. I wouldn't call it pretty but rather interesting!

The same applies to the two images in the PiPs.

I do like these.........and they're very well taken in lovely light..........but I find it difficult to describe what I'm seeing. Does that make sense? Probably not ;-)

Thanks a lot, Keith! The rocks are all volcanic so nothing much except mosses grows there, it's all rather stark. I know what you mean,that close you can only see weird shapes covered in green;-) On top is a glacier with the volcano underneath but you can only see that from further away.
12 years ago all this was covered in a thick layer of ash from the notorious eruption that brought air traffic to a standstill.

I remember well the chaos that the eruption caused in 2010. I was intending to fly back from Manchester to Stavanger and all flights were cancelled. It was impossible to contact KLM by phone to get info, and Facebook was the only answer. I managed to join after much advice, and now I rarely use the site these days. Dramatic yet stark outlook of a sleeping volcano, Gudrun, but the moss seems to thrive..

The vegetation usually profits after an eruption but the birds disappeared for a while because all insects had died.

Sehr interessante Fotos eines Vulkanausbruchs die 2010 der ganz Europa im Griff hatte.
Wir saßen auf Sizilien bei einer Rennradwoche fest und mussten die Heimreise selbst organisieren. Wir bekam die letzten Zugfahrkarten bis Mailand. Dort mussten wir uns von Freunden mit dem Auto abholen lassen.

Herzlichen Dank, Leo! Wenn's eine Fototour gewesen wäre, hätte ich da noch viel mehr machen können. Bei Schwerpunkt Natur lief Fotografieren nebenbei....

Wenn man mit Anderen zum Wandern unterwegs ist, muss man immer schaun, dass man mitkommt oder nach dem Bild wieder hinterher kommt. Das kenn ich.

Es war eigentlich nur eine Rundreise (viel Piste) mit kleineren Wanderungen, aber da galt das auch, man hängt hinterher;-)

Warme erdige Farben....ich frag mich dann oft, ob auf diesen Hängen jemals ein Mensch seinen Fuß gesetzt hat...
