Walbeobachtung in der Disko-Bucht: die Buckelwale tauchten mit Vorliebe nahe bei oder unter den Eisbergen, offensichtlich gab es dort viel Krill.

Whalewatching in Disko Bay: the humpback whales seemed to like feeding near or under icebergs, obviously there was plenty of krill there.

Aber Hallo Gudrun, da warst Du ja auf einem echten Abenteuertrip und beim wale watching ...
So ein Erlebnis hatte ich schon Mal vor vielen Jahren im Mittelmeer beim Segeln, als so ein Riese ca. 20 - 30 m vor unserem Segelboot hoch kam um nach zu sehen, wer da sein Revier kreuzt...
Das waren damals sehr besondere Gefühle, die wir gegenüber diesen Gefährten hatten in Bezug auf unser 'kleines' 12m Schiffchen...

Großen Dank, Udo! Das Abenteuer war recht komfortabel mit Flügen, 2 Tagen Küstenfähre und Hotels;-) Die Buckelwale waren schon sehr beeindruckend, sie haben 10mal die Fluke gezeigt- und das sei ein ruhiger Tag gewesen;-) Einmal muss einer unter dem Boot hindurchgetaucht sein, der tauchte plötzlich ganz nah auf der anderen Seite wieder auf, dümpelte da aber nur rum. Ein bisschen bin ich da schon erschrocken. Das Boot war auch klein, nur 11 Passagiere.

Diese Begegnungen sind unglaublich. Wir hatten in Australien auf 2 Whale watching Touren jeweils das Glück, Mütter mit Ihren Kindern zu beobachten. Wale und Delfine. Immer die Mutter, Schwanzflosse aus dem Wasser, anschließend das Kind auch. Das waren tolle Erlebnisse.

Oh that would be a dream come true for me!! We tried to go out to see them in the Atlantic when we were visiting Boston a few years ago but the Coast Guard would not let any of the whale watching boats leave harbor due to high winds and waves. (not a good combination) What a wonderful experience for you Gudrun!! Now you have great images to remember the event!!! Welcome back and I don't expect you to get to my photos for comment ... and I thank you for sharing your adventure shots. It's always like a mini trip for me. :)

Thanks a lot, Chris! Disko Bay is a bit sheltered so it was much easier than in the Atlantic! I once went on a whale watching tour in Kaikoura (NZ) and about half of the passengers were seasick.. We saw sperm whales there and lots of seabirds (albatrosses). This time there were many humpback whales- I'll grab the chance to go whale watching anywhere:-)

Vor einigen Jahren wollten wir von den Andenes auf den Vesterålen aus an einer Walbeobachtungs-Tour teilnehmen, hätten aber einen Tag dort oben warten müssen. Wir haben darauf verzichtet, worüber ich nicht traurig war, da ich schon im Hafen seekrank werde ;-).

Herzlichen Dank, Uli! Ach, das war ganz zivilisiert mit Flug und Hotel;-) Ilulissat ist das Zentrum des Tourismus in Grönland, aber dank der Jahreszeit waren die Horden nicht mehr da...
Vielleicht war es gut, dass es bei euch in Andenes nicht geklappt hat, die Touren dort sind berüchtigt dafür, dass die meisten Leute dabei seekrank werden;-)
