Thanks a lot, Chris! Quedlinburg has a huge amount of lovingly restored timber framed houses. Since it was awarded wolrd heritage status a lot of money has been spent.

You could still buy a house for a few Euros there and then spend millions renovating it! The town will even give you old doors in style with the building if you need one and you'd get some support from official money pots...

Thank you so much, Keith! Quedlinburg has more than 1300 of such houses! German reunification came in time to prevent them from being pulled down and now most of them are restored. Some are still for sale, quite cheap to buy and very expensive to restore,-)
