Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Das sind die typischen norwegischen Grassodendächer, als Isolierschicht kommt zuerst Birkenrinde und darauf die Grassoden. Im Winter werden die dann gelb/ braun...

Danke für den Link! In Island habe ich auch solche Grassodenhäuser gesehen, bei einem müssen Pilzsporen in der Erde gewesen sein, jedefalls wuchs da eine ganze Champignonkultur;-)

Schön, Gudrun! Die Skandinavier verstehen etwas von Holzbauten. Ich hab auch mal in mit meiner Familie in einem hölzernen Hof Urlaub gemacht, das war urgemütlich.

This is brilliant Gudrun...................I really like the earthy colours topped off by that beautiful blue sky. The detail you've captured in the buildings is fantastic.............and I love the turfed roofs..!!

This should definitely be viewed large on black for full effect..!!

Thank you so much, Keith! It's quite amazing that in the centre of town all the old houses have survived! These days of course life is easier, even the temperatures don't reach -50 any longer. Instead of miners there are lots of artisans and artists and plenty of cafés:-)
