Gjástykki
Gjástykki is a rift zone in the northern reaches of the Krafla fissure swarm. The scoria cones and lava flows in this photo stem from the 1975-84 "Krafla fires". The fence was erected to keep sheep out and halt erosion.

HFF folks, enjoy your weekend!

Gudrun club has replied to Roger Bennion clubAs others have said, great contrasts between the different layers in the picture! I noticed in Iceland that there is so much volcanic activity that things are always changing, landscapes getting cut by lava flows, etc etc. Fascinating place!
Best Wishes, HFF, and a good weekend.
