Sand eels, anyone?
On of the best places to watch puffins is at Hafnarhólmi in Borgarfjörður Eystri! The photos are cropped but you can get closer to the birds there than in most other places.

Einer der besten Orte, um Papageitaucher zu beobachten, ist Hafnarhólmi im Borgarfjörður Eystri! Die Fotos sind gecroppt, aber so nahe wie dort kommt man den Vögeln selten.

Vielen Dank, Chrissy! Ja, die sind nur von ca. Mai bis Anfang August da. Von den Stellen, wo man sie in Island sehen lann, gefiel mir diese mit Abstand am besten. Noch wenige Touristen und wirklich ganz nah dran! Außerdem ist die Gegend traumhaft schön.

Schönen Dank, Volker! Das sind Sandaale, ganz kleine Fischchen und Hauptnahrung der Papageientaucher. Der Schnabel ist wohl extra so geformt, dass sie mehrere halten können, um die Jungen damit zu füttern.

Vielen Dank, Alex! Ja, die Souivenirläden heißen bei den Isländern auch Lundi-Shops;-) Mit dem Wetter konnten wir eigentlich recht zufrieden sein, wir waren in der Gegend, wo der Sommer deutlich besser war als im Süden und Westen.

Herzlichen Dank, Lothar! Das war das erste Mal, dass ich sie mit Fischen gesehen habe. Weiter südlich gibt's wegen Klimawandel kaum noch Sandaale und die Vögel finden nicht genug zu fressen.

Danke vielmals für alle die Favs, Stevia! Die Papageientaucher sind sozusagen die islämfischen Nationalvögel, sie sind einfach zu schön in ihrem Brutklei! Sandaale brauchen sie nicht nur zum selber Fressen, sondern auch um das Junge zu füttern.

Großen Dank, Tanja! Zuviel der Ehre, an der Stelle schafft es jeder, die kleinen Kerlchen gut zu erwischen! Das ist der bisher beste Beobachtungsplatz gewesen, an dem ich je war:-) Ich habe dort übrigens meinen Objektivdeckel geopfert, der fiel mir über die Abschrankung;-)
